Air defence downs 22 Russia-launched Shaheds in five Regions

The Russian army launched drones from Crimea and the Russian city of Kursk. 

On the night of 5 June, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with 27 Shahed-131/136 attack drones. The launch took place from the territory of occupied Crimea and the Russian city of Kursk. 

The defenders managed to shoot down 22 UAVs, Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk said on Telegram. Air defences were operating in several regions.

"Anti-aircraft missile units and electronic warfare units of the Air Force, mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces were involved in repelling the enemy air attack. As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 22 Shaheds were shot down in Mykolayiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy and Poltava Regions," Oleshchuk said.

Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, wrote on Telegram that defenders shot down four drones in his Region: two in Kryvyy Rih district, one in Dnipro district and another in Nikopol district.
