On the night of 7 June, the Russian army launched a massive attack on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. It attacked with strategic aviation - Tu-95MS bombers from the airspace of Saratov Region and Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from the Russian Regions of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Yeysk, Kursk and occupied Crimea.
In total, the Russians used five X-101/X-555 air-launched cruise missiles and 53 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs. All the missiles were shot down, and the drones were partially destroyed, according to the Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk.
"As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 48 attack UAVs and 5 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles were shot down in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kirovohrad, Mykolayiv, Kherson, Odesa, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Khmelnytskyy Regions," he said.
The Russian attack was repelled by mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile and electronic warfare units of the Air Force.
