On the Day of the Special Operations Forces, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the forward command post of the Special Operations Forces in the Kharkiv sector near Vovchansk, congratulated the soldiers on the holiday and presented them with state awards.
According to the President's Office, the Special Forces fighters are fighting in the hottest spots of the frontline and successfully conducting special operations and performing tasks.
"I would like to thank you for your heroic operations both behind enemy lines and during the defence and de-occupation of our territories, cities and villages, starting with the defence of Donetsk Airport in 2014, then Gostomel, Kherson Region and the operation in Kharkiv Region. Please take care of yourselves. Today you are in this area, which is probably one of the most difficult. The whole country is counting on you, we will definitely win," Zelenskyy said.
The President presented the soldiers with state awards, including two Heroes of Ukraine, and awarded the 142nd Training Centre of the Special Forces with the honorary name ‘named after Major General Vsevolod Zmiyenko’.
During the visit, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyy also heard a report from the Commander of the Special Operations Forces Oleksandr Trepak on the development strategy of the Special Forces and the tasks performed and planned.
