On the night of 31 July, Russian occupation forces used a large number of distractor drones to attack Ukraine.

This was reported by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, during a teleconference

‘This time, there was a significant number of so-called distractor UAVs, i.e. without an explosive part. The purpose of which is to deplete and study air defence systems. This is not a new tactic either. The Ukrainian security and defence forces have been practising and effectively countering such challenges,’ Yusov said.

Vladyslav Vlasyuk, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that the enemy used a new type of drone.

‘The peculiarity of tonight's shahed night is the cautious limited use of a new type of drone, the Gerber. It hasn't been disassembled into molecules yet, but it looks like an economy version of the Shahed. Plywood instead of composite, a minimum of components, the same cheap made-in-China,' Vlasyuk said.
