Since the beginning of the Kursk operation, Ukrainian troops have advanced 35 kilometers and taken control of an area of 1,150 square kilometers, or 82 settlements. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyy announced this at a meeting of the headquarters.
In the Kursk Region, he said, "the search for and destruction of the enemy in the village of Sudzha and three other settlements has been completed." To maintain law and order and meet the needs of Russian civilians, a military commandant's office was set up and Major General Moskalyov was appointed as its head.
"Since the beginning of the day, our troops have advanced from 500 meters to 1.5 km in some areas. We repelled three enemy attacks," he said.
The situation in the eastern areas is difficult but under control. The defense forces continue defensive operations in the eastern and southern operational zones. The main efforts are focused on preventing the occupants from advancing in the direction of Toretsk and Pokrovsk, said Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyy at a meeting of the Staff.
In 2022, Major General Eduard Moskalyov commanded the Joint Forces Operation, then became the commander of the Odesa Joint Forces Operation.
