Over the summer, the Russians carried out more than 2,000 attacks on the territory of Sumy Region. They used missiles, artillery, UAVs, attack drones, and mortars.

This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.

He stressed that due to the constant Russian terror, the population of 183 settlements in 15 territorial communities of Sumy Region is subject to priority evacuation. More than 20,000 people have already been evacuated, including almost 2,500 children.

"The creation of a buffer zone in the Kursk Region is a step to protect our border communities from daily enemy shelling. Residents of the settlements in the area of the defence operation were abandoned by Russia without the most necessary things. The military is now providing the Ministry of Internal Affairs with information on the needs of the locals for drinking water, food, medicines and hygiene products so that we can organise humanitarian aid as soon as possible in coordination with other relevant authorities," Klymenko said.

He added that all humanitarian initiatives are carried out in full compliance with international law.
