More than 30,000 marriage applications have already been submitted through the Diia portal in Ukraine.
This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation Mykhaylo Fedorov.
‘Previously, newlyweds had a long-distance race: they had to go to the Civil Registry Office to submit an application, choose the date and format of the ceremony, and then pay the state fee. A year and a half ago, we launched the option to apply for marriage online on the Diia portal, and more than 30,000 couples have already used the service,’ he wrote on Telegram.
Fedorov noted that the online marriage service will be launched ‘very soon’.
‘Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be wow. Spend time on each other, not on bureaucracy,’ the minister added.
Marriage through Diia
On 30 March, the Government adopted a resolution on online marriage registration. To get married online, you will need to take several steps:
- Submit an application in the app
- An employee of the Civil Registry Office conducts the wedding ceremony via video link
- The newlyweds sign the marriage certificate with Diia.Signature.
Recently, the Diia portal has made it possible to submit an application for state registration of marriage and immediately choose the place, time, format, and hall where the ceremony will take place. In this case, the newlyweds only had to come to the registry office to register their marriage.
In June, the first three couples got married via video link through Diia.
It is worth noting that military personnel, police officers, healthcare workers and other specified categories can register a marriage online, without personal presence. The registration can also be certified by a marriage certificate drawn up directly by the commander/supervisor at the place of service/work, or by the head of a healthcare facility.
