Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Kyiv on an official visit.
This was reported by The Times of India.
This is the first visit to Ukraine by an Indian prime minister in the history of bilateral relations. Modi is expected to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv.
"The historic meeting will focus on finding a peaceful solution to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which has been raging for more than two and a half years after the Russian invasion," the newspaper writes.
Modi's visit to Ukraine
- Before that, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy met with Modi during the G7 summit in Italy. The leaders also had a telephone conversation, during which the head of state invited the prime minister to Kyiv.
- Recently, Modi travelled to Moscow, where he warmly embraced dictator Putin, which angered democratic countries.
- After the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022, India became a leading importer of Russian oil, while many countries around the world reduced their trade with Russia.
