Zelenskyy signed a law banning the activities of religious organisations associated with Russia in Ukraine, as well as a law ratifying the Rome Statute. This is stated on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
In particular, it says that the document with the President's signature was returned on 24 August.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also signed a law ratifying the Rome Statute.
The ban on religious organisations linked to Russia will not be immediate. Every religious organisation whose connection with the Russian Orthodox Church is proven by an independent commission will have nine months to break this connection. If it fails to do so, the court will decide whether to revoke the registration. If such a church used state and municipal property, it will be returned to the state and the community.
On 20 August, the Verkhovna Rada banned the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. The bill was passed without discussion.
