During a visit to Budapest, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha spoke with his Hungarian counterpart Szijjártó Péter. He reported this on the social network X.
‘We discussed in detail a broad bilateral and international agenda, as well as the Peace Formula as a way to a just and lasting peace. We are committed to developing pragmatic and predictable good neighbourly relations,’ Sybiha wrote.

‘For my part, I stressed that Ukraine reaffirmed its bilateral and international commitments to ensure the rights of persons belonging to the Hungarian national community. The minister and I noted the positive dynamics in resolving this issue and agreed to further cooperate in order to reach an understanding on all sensitive issues,’ Sybiha said at a joint press conference.
He noted that today ethnic Hungarians are defending Ukraine with arms at the front and supporting Ukraine in the rear.
‘For us, this is the best evidence that the Hungarian national community is our strength, our Eros Pista (Hungarian: Erős Pista - ‘strong Stepan’, a famous Hungarian seasoning, very spicy, has cultural and archetypal connotations), to use the culinary language, that today we are equal in defending our freedom and life,’ Sybiha said.
‘We hope that Hungary, as a country that actively advocates peace, will continue to support Ukrainian initiatives and contribute to their speedy implementation,’ he added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the one-on-one talks lasted about an hour, twice as long as planned. Upon their completion, negotiations in an expanded format with the participation of delegations began.
