Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has caused environmental damage to Ukraine worth more than UAH 2.6 trillion.
This was reported by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Svitlana Hrynchuk in an interview with Ukrinform.
"The damage to the environment is one of the largest in monetary terms, as it is a huge amount of damaged and destroyed agricultural land, forest land of nature protection and industrial status, and polluted basins of our waterways," said Hrynchuk.
She specified that more than 6,000 different cases have been recorded, amounting to about UAH 2.6-2.7 trillion.
According to Hrynchuk, fires are recorded every day on hundreds of hectares of forests. At the same time, it is impossible to use traditional means to extinguish these fires due to mining. The number of mined forests is estimated at 0.5 million hectares, and the estimated damage to Ukraine's nature reserve fund is almost UAH 650 billion.
