On the morning of 17 November, Russia used about 120 missiles of various types and 90 attack drones against Ukraine. They targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure across the whole country, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.
"A massive combined attack on all Regions of Ukraine. During this night and morning, Russian terrorists used various types of drones, including Shaheds. Cruise, ballistic and aerial missiles: Zircon, Iskander, Kinzhal. Around 120 missiles and 90 drones totally. Our air defence forces have destroyed more than 140 air targets," the statement said.
The President emphasises that Russia targeted energy infrastructure across Ukraine. There are reports of damage to facilities from hits and falling debris.
"In Mykolayiv, two people were killed and six others were injured, including two children, as a result of a drone attack. My condolences to the families and friends of the victims. As of now, there are areas without electricity, all the necessary forces are involved in the aftermath and restoration," Zelenskyy added.
The President expressed gratitude to the air defence forces involved in repelling the attack: anti-aircraft missile troops, aviation, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare. "Everyone worked in an organised manner. Thank you for your reliable protection!"
Russian attack on 17 November
- Due to the missile attack, Ukraine introduced emergency blackout schedules.
- Russia attacked DTEK's thermal power plants. There is serious damage.
- A fire broke out in Lviv Region as a result of falling debris. There were no casualties.
- Russian drone crashed on the border of Transcarpathian and Lviv Regions. The search is ongoing.
- In Kyiv, a fire broke out in a high-rise building as a result of falling debris. There are reports of injuries. Debris also fell in three other districts of the capital.
- In Vinnytsya and Volyn Regions, Russia attacked power facilities. The consequences are being eliminated.
- In Rivne Region, Russia also struck at the energy infrastructure. There are problems with water supply.
