On 4 January, Russian forces launched an air strike on a residential high-rise building in the Sveska community of the Shostka district, Sumy Region.
According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the attack involved two bombs that struck the building, completely destroying one entrance. Emergency rescue operations are underway as there may still be people trapped under the rubble.
Initially, it was reported that two children and one adult were injured. Later, the number of injured rose to 10, including two two-year-old children.
A five-storey apartment building sustained significant damage in the attack. Emergency services are working at the scene, providing assistance to the victims.
The regional police have opened a criminal investigation into the incident under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of the Laws and Customs of War).
