On 3 January, the Russian military attacked with 93 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various types of decoy drones. Air defence systems shot down 60 of them, and another 26 were lost locally.
According to the Air Force, Russia launched attack drones from Bryansk, Millerovo, and Orel.
As of 09.00, 60 Shahed and other types of attack drones were confirmed to have been shot down in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk Regions.
Due to the active counteraction of the Defence Forces, 26 Russian decoy drones were lost in the area (without negative consequences), and one was lost in the air.
As a result of a Russian drone attack, several strike UAVs hit private businesses and apartment buildings in Donetsk and Chernihiv Regions. The downed Shaheds also caused damage in the Kyiv Region: private houses and cars were damaged in several districts. Unfortunately, there is a deceased and injured.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
In 2024, Ukrainian air defence systems shot down over 1,300 missiles and 11,200 Russian drones.
