Ukraine's accession to the European Union is the first point of economic guarantees.
This was stated by Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a conversation with journalists.
He noted that only one country opposes this.
‘As for the European Union, the decision on Ukraine's membership in the EU is being blocked by one country. This country is Hungary. I know, and our American partners know, that the final agreement to end the war will certainly include guarantees, including economic guarantees. Point No. 1 of economic guarantees for Ukraine is EU membership. No alternatives and no discussion,’ the Head of State said.
The President added that neither the United States nor the EU members are against Ukraine's accession, and expressed the opinion that Hungary would look at US policy in this matter.
Zelenskyy also said that the partners were interested in rebuilding Ukraine after the war.
‘I am sure that after the war, America is very interested in rebuilding Ukraine. Europe is very interested in rebuilding, especially Germany. After the end of the war, they will seriously invest in Ukraine and help,’ the head of state said.
- Recently, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban proposed to hold a referendum on Ukraine's membership in the European Union in Hungary.
- Later, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski reacted ironically to this idea and said that it would be interesting to see the results of the referendum on Orban's membership in the EU.
- Meanwhile, a team of Polish experts has recently arrived in Kyiv to strengthen the Ukrainian team in negotiations with the EU. It was created by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to advise Ukraine on its accession to the European Union.
