A few days ago in Lille, Kharkiv’s sister city, an exhibition entitled Culture en Gare. Lille – Kharkiv. L’Évasion par la photographie (Culture at the Train Stations. Lille – Kharkiv. Escape through Photography) opened at the Lille-Flandres and Lille-Europe train stations.
The exhibition introduces residents and visitors to a selection of works by three generations of Kharkiv photographers, from the 1960s to the present day. Among the artists represented are Viktor Kochetov, Serhiy Kochetov, Vladyslav Krasnoshchok, Serhiy Lebedynskyy, Anatoliy Makiyenko, Oleh Malovanyy, Ihor Manko, Roman Minin, Yevheniy Pavlov, Misha Pedan, Borys Redko, Yuriy Rupin, Serhiy Solonskyy, Volodymyr Starko, Oleksandr Suprun and Ihor Chursin.
The project is part of the Voyage en Ukraine cultural season, which runs in France from December 2025 to March 2026 and includes around fifty events. The initiative is being implemented in partnership with L’Institut français, the Ukrainian Institute and SNCF Gares & Connexions, with the support of the French and Ukrainian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture, as well as the city of Lille.
The exhibition will run until 29 March 2026 and will become an open cultural space where Ukrainian photography enters into dialogue with the European public in the daily rhythm of the city.
