On 21 February, a meeting and discussion on the artistic and political philosophy of artist Davyd Chychkan will take place in Berlin. The programme will also include two short films about the artist and his ideas. This was announced by the CultResist association on its Instagram page.

The first film will be A Missed Opportunity (2017). In this film, the artist travels with his exhibition and reflects on each of his works and the complex history of Ukraine. The second film to be shown is Davyd Chychkan: The Art of Defiance. In this 15-minute video about Davyd and his ideas, values and views, his close friends and family share their reflections.

Ukrainian journalist and activist Karina Lazaruk will give a lecture on Chychkan’s legacy, his anarchic views and philosophy. The organisers also aim to create an open space for the exchange of ideas, interaction and open discussion.

In September 2024, Davyd Chychkan joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and served in a mortar crew. He died on 10 August 2025 as a result of injuries sustained the day before in the Zaporizhzhya direction.
