Ukrainian poet and servicewoman Yaryna Chornohuz has embarked on a tour of five cities in Ireland. The series of events will take place on 16–20 February and is dedicated to the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.

As part of the tour, the poet will present her collection dasein: defense of presence, recently published by Jantar Publishing, and take part in public discussions on war, literature, feminism, language, and cultural identity. All events will be held in English and are primarily aimed at Irish audiences.

The tour schedule is as follows:

16 February – Dublin. The tour opened at Trinity College Dublin. At 14:00, a public interview titled “Poems from the Frontline” took place at the Graduates Memorial Building with Irish writer Martina Devlin.

At 18:30, at the Robert Emmet Theatre (Arts Building), a discussion titled “Dasein: Being at War” focused on war, existence, and poetry, featuring Ukrainian-Irish musician and curator Olesya Zdorovetska.

17 February – Ennis. At the De Valera Library, a discussion titled “Feminism and Women’s Experiences in War” will be held with journalist and cultural manager Natalia Korniienko.

18 February – Galway. At University of Galway (Larmor Theatre), a conversation on language, cultural identity, and decolonisation will take place with Dr Cassy Smith-Christmas.

19 February – Limerick. At University of Limerick (Kemmy Business School), the event “[Words] as Weapons” will feature a conversation with writer Greg Dinner.

20 February – Tralee. The final event will be a presentation of dasein: defense of presence at the MTU Kerry campus in Tralee, followed by a discussion with Robert Carey. Admission to this event is free.

The organisers emphasise that the tour is not only about presenting the book, but also about fostering a deeper conversation on the experience of war, women’s writing, and the Ukrainian perspective in a broader European context. The tour has been organised with the support of international partners and a team of volunteers in Ireland.
