“LB.ua is one of the platforms that, from the very start of the Russian–Ukrainian war, has covered topics related to Ukrainian defence in a professional manner. Now there will be even more of these discussions — by bringing in partners, we have been able to strengthen this area. We are delighted that our website is growing and developing, and that we have the opportunity to be involved in what is, without exaggeration, one of the most important sectors of our time,” says LB.ua’s editor-in-chief, Sonya Koshkina.

The main partner of the Defense Tech section is F-Drones.

“Ukraine is doing today what no one has done before: creating, testing and scaling defence technologies in the context of a real war. This is our unique advantage and, at the same time, a major challenge: will we be able to transform military innovation into a long-term industry, an export powerhouse and a new security economy? Defense Tech on LB.ua is a platform where these issues can be discussed honestly, professionally and substantively. We want this conversation to contribute to Ukraine’s victory and its future as a global hub for defence technologies. For F-Drones, this is fully in line with the company’s mission, which is why we have joined the project as an industrial partner. We are grateful to the LB.ua team for their courage in launching this important initiative,” said Stanislav Khutor, CEO of F-Drones.

The section’s editor is journalist Kateryna Amelina, who has been working at LB.ua since 2022 and covers topics such as the war, the training and support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the resources that influence the course of hostilities.

“The topic of defence technologies is complex, both in terms of balance — as there are many players and stakeholders involved — and from a moral standpoint, as the strength of the Defence Forces, and consequently the resilience of our state, depends on it. Many people want quick answers – ‘where is the Ukrainian Shahed/Mavic?’, ‘why are Ukrainian ballistic missiles not flying towards Moscow?’, ‘why are only robots not fighting?’ and so on. Having listened to expert discussions for several years now, I am increasingly convinced that there are no quick or simple solutions. That is why, in this section, we want to present, in a structured way and without generalisations, who is doing what, what works, how it is applied, and what the future holds,” explained Kateryna.

The team has also been joined by Viktoriya Naydyonova, a journalist with experience serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2017–2020).

“I am interested in the development of the defence sector in Ukraine; I believe it is important to report on this in a way that is accessible to the general public, without hype or misinformation, whilst respecting confidentiality requirements,” noted Viktoriya.

The editorial content within this section is and will remain entirely independent. The section’s partner does not influence editorial policy.

F-Drones is a Ukrainian defence technology company founded in 2023. It mass-produces FPV drones, ‘smart’ drones with guidance systems, relays, and F7 LITAVR interceptor drones — a response to the ‘suicide drone’ threat. In early 2026, F-Drones became one of 11 companies selected by the US Department of War for the Drone Dominance Programme. In March 2026, it became the first in the world to demonstrate a combat-tested remote control system for an interceptor drone.
