Russian troops are trying to hinder the movement of Ukrainian forces in the area of the Inhulets River mouth, using an unusual tactic involving submerged drones with stretched nets.
This was reported by Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Ukrinform writes.
"There is information that the enemy has decided to sink its UAVs with stretched nets precisely where the mouth of the Inhulets River is. It flows into the Dnipro a little above Kherson, where the settlement of Sadove is located. The enemy is trying to use these nets to block movement along the Inhulets and access to the Dnipro," the spokesperson says.
The military notes that the Russians are using nets similar to those used to protect their ports in the Black Sea. In this case, they are being adapted to create obstacles on the water and to counter Ukrainian crossing groups and uncrewed boats.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to monitor the situation and are assessing the effectiveness of such enemy engineering barriers.
- Over the past day, 257 combat engagements were recorded. The largest number of battles took place on the Pokrovsk sector of the front.
