The 31st World of Books Prague is taking place in Prague from 14 to 17 May. This year, the event focuses on two central themes: History and Europe. In developing the programme, the organisers drew inspiration from Milan Kundera’s book The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, particularly the statement: “Man’s struggle against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting”.

On 17 May, the final day of the festival, presentations by Ukrainian authors Maryanna Kiyanovska, Anna Gruver and Oksana Stomina are scheduled.

The festival programme describes the writers as follows:

“Kiyanovska works with memory and ritual repetition, Gruver with economical, contemporary expression, and Stomina with the urgent depiction of a specific situation. A multi-layered whole in which the personal and the collective intersect.”
