On 5 July in Berlin, the European Science Fiction Society (ESFS) announced the winners of its annual Eurocon Awards, with Ukrainian film U Are the Universe, writer Yuliia Nahorniuk and the Al Mor festival among this year's recipients, according to Zoriana Fortetsia.
Director Pavlo Ostrikov's U Are the Universe — about space trucker Andriy, who becomes the last surviving human after the Earth explodes — won the award for Best Dramatic Presentation.
Writer Yuliia Nahorniuk received the Chrysalis Award, presented to authors or artists for an outstanding debut work. Nahorniuk is a Ukrainian writer and translator whose fantasy novels include Maiden, Mother and the Third (2024), The Witch Dies for the Third Time (2025) and Fine Brunettes and Other Supernatural Creatures (2026), all published by Shche Odna Storinka.
Ukraine's annual interactive fantasy festival Al Mor won the award for Best Fan-Organised Event, Festival or Convention. The 2026 edition took place in Kyiv on 14–15 February and featured cosplay competitions, musical performances, costumed poetry readings, workshops, and stands showcasing Ukrainian and international fantasy literature.
Eurocon is an annual convention bringing together science fiction professionals and fans from across Europe.
