Ukrainian cyber specialists attacked the digital infrastructure of the Russian online marketplace Wildberries on August 10–11. The cyberattack caused major disruptions to the company’s operations.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.
According to the DIU, the attack was carried out by specialists from the Cyber Corps community as part of an operation in Russia’s cyberspace.
As a result of the attack, the operation of the main remote customer service channel was disrupted, the payment infrastructure was partially destabilized, and additional strain was placed on contact centers.
Mass user complaints were also recorded, including over the inability to carry out financial transactions.
The DIU notes that the cyber operation took place against the backdrop of strikes by Ukraine’s Defense Forces on Wildberries warehouses.
“The cyber operation amplified the effect of the kinetic attacks by Ukraine’s Defense Forces on Wildberries warehouses—causing yet another significant loss for the company, which feeds the aggressor’s economy,” the intelligence statement said.
