Ukrainian forces struck a number of sites important to Russia’s defense industry and fuel infrastructure. The Progress center, the Savasleyka airfield, and an oil facility in Russia were hit.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported the results of the strikes.
According to the president, the Progress center in Russia’s Samara region was hit. It is part of the Roscosmos structure and was engaged in electronics production. Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian Flamingo missiles were used during the operation.
The distance from the Ukrainian border to the site is about 900 kilometers.
Ukrainian long-range assets also struck the Savasleyka airfield, where Russian missile carriers are based that are used for strikes on Ukrainian territory. According to Zelenskyy, it is located roughly 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
In addition, damage was recorded at an oil facility near the settlement of Ust-Luga. The distance to it from Ukraine, according to the president, is more than 800 kilometers.
“Our plan of long-range sanctions against Russia for this war is being carried out, and it is important that Russia’s war potential is reduced,” Zelenskyy said.
The president thanked the Ukrainian units that took part in the strikes and emphasized that the goal of such operations is to reduce Russia’s ability to wage war against Ukraine.
“Peace is needed, and in Russia this must be visible—through concrete damage to specific facilities,” Zelenskyy noted.
The General Staff also confirmed the strike on the Progress rocket and space center in Samara and the Savasleyka airfield.
At the Savasleyka airfield in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region, a hit on the target was recorded, followed by a fire on the airfield grounds.
