Soldiers of the 44th Separate Mechanised Brigade carried out a successful combat operation using the Droid TW-12.7 armed unmanned ground vehicle developed by DevDroid, the robot’s developers said.

Russian personnel were inside a building at one of the Russian positions. The operators remotely guided the UGV to the target and opened fire using its combat module equipped with a 12.7 mm Browning M2 machine gun. As a result of the operation, the Russian position was destroyed and around 20 Russian soldiers were killed.

The mission was carried out remotely. The Droid TW-12.7 took on the most dangerous part of the operation – approaching the Russian position and opening fire – without exposing Ukrainian troops to the risk of direct fire.

What is known about the Droid TW-12.7 UGV

The Droid TW-12.7 UGV is equipped with a remotely controlled turret fitted with a 12.7 mm M2 Browning machine gun. According to the developers, it can engage lightly armoured targets such as infantry fighting vehicles, armoured personnel carriers and armoured vehicles. The system can also engage unarmoured targets, including cars and other Russian equipment.

The UGV can also be used for remote battlefield surveillance. Its built-in cameras and data transmission systems provide the operator with real-time situational awareness. According to the developers, the platform’s design provides high mobility over difficult terrain and off-road conditions.

DevDroid is a Ukrainian defence technology company developing robotic combat systems that enable operations to be carried out and coordinated remotely, reducing risks to personnel while improving precision, autonomy and safety.
