On the night of August 22, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with missiles of various types, including ballistic missiles, and drones. The main targets were the Kyiv and Odesa regions.
On the night of August 22 (from 18:00 on August 21), the enemy attacked Ukraine with missiles that approach their targets on a ballistic trajectory: Iskander-M and S-400. They also struck with three Kh-31P/Kh-59 air-launched missiles from the Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod regions and from airspace over the Black Sea. They also used “Banderol” loitering munitions and 217 attack UAVs of the Shahed type (more than 50 of them jet-powered), Gerbera, and “Parodiya” decoy drones from the following directions: Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk — Russia; temporarily occupied Donetsk; Hvardiiske — temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 09:00, air defenses shot down and suppressed three Kh-31P/Kh-59 air-launched missiles, six “Banderol” loitering munitions, as well as 182 enemy Shahed- and Gerbera-type UAVs and drones of other types in the north, south, east, and center of the country.
Impacts by aerial attack weapons were recorded at 41 locations, and falling debris at 12 sites.
As of the morning, the attack is ongoing, with several enemy UAVs still in Ukrainian airspace.
