General Staff Confirms Strike on Novokuybyshevsky Refinery in Russia’s Samara Region

On the night of 22 August 2026, units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck facilities at the Novokuybyshevsky oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region, located about 900 km away.

The General Staff reported this.

It is noted that after the strike, a fire broke out on the company’s premises. The extent of the damage is being уточнюється.

The Novokuybyshevsky refinery is one of Russia’s largest oil-processing enterprises and is part of PJSC NK Rosneft. The plant’s capacity is about 8.8 million tonnes of oil per year. It produces more than 20 types of products, including automotive and aviation fuel, diesel, and components for lubricants.

The company’s products are used to meet the needs of the Russian armed forces.

Work against the enemy’s key facilities continues, the General Staff said.

  • On the night of 22 August, Russians complained about a drone attack. In particular, in the Samara region, the Novokuybyshevsky oil refinery and the Ozon logistics complex were allegedly under attack.
