President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he has no additional details about Iryna Mudra, the former deputy head of his Office, suspected of laundering illegally obtained funds to post bail for former minister Herman Halushchenko. Speaking with journalists on 22 August, he said he has no more details than anyone else, an LB correspondent reports.

The president added that what he had learned was enough to dismiss her. Another official from the department was also dismissed.

“There were enough details to dismiss her. I essentially heard, along with you, some conversations about certain actions—real or potential. It would be inappropriate to discuss this now. What was voiced there, in my view, is enough for the deputy to be dismissed and for one more person in the department to be dismissed as well. If there is additional information, we will respond to additional information,” the head of state said.

He added that staff rotation should not be an end in itself. You can carry out personnel changes every day, but there is not always someone to replace people with.

“Second: let the law enforcement and anti-corruption systems work—work independently; what is there for me to comment on? We must respond. They take certain steps—we respond to those steps. If it’s a minister and there are grounds to dismiss him, then dismiss him. If there are unclear things, then you need to wait for additional details and a court verdict. We have had different stories with different people. There is a great deal of media attention to this topic; everyone is informationally open about it. In past years, the information component was often smaller, but today information moves very fast, the media reaction is very fast, we speak about it absolutely openly, and I think there is sense in that,” the president said.

He added: “the heads of the anti-corruption bodies have zero questions for me. They understand perfectly well that I’m not involved in anything like that. And that is important to me.”
