The State Tax Service has issued a statement regarding references to an STS employee in recordings held by the anti-corruption bodies.
As the STS stressed, it is ready to “provide maximum assistance to the anti-corruption bodies in the investigation into the possible involvement of a service employee in unlawful actions” and that “all necessary information will be provided to law enforcement within the framework of the law”.
At the same time, the tax service stressed that “all facts must be established objectively and impartially” and without premature conclusions, within the framework of the law.
- This concerns suspects in Operation ‘Carthage’, who organised and protected a network of fraudulent call centres.
- The scheme was created and led in 2025 by one of the heads of a structural unit of the Office of the Prosecutor General. In total, five people are under suspicion.
