The Third Army Corps is conducting an offensive in the north of Donetsk region. Commander Andriy Biletskyi has revealed the first details.
The operation is called “Vivaldi” and until now has been carried out under a complete information blackout, the Third Army Corps press service said. The first stage was aimed at eliminating the infiltration of Russian troops and disrupting their logistics.
“Thanks to careful planning and the heroism of the Third Army Corps fighters, a heavy blow has been dealt to the combat capability of Russia’s 20th and 25th Combined Arms Armies,” Andriy Biletskyi said.
As a result of search-and-strike actions by Ukrainian units, enemy infiltration pockets were destroyed in the area of Novoselivka, Oleksandrivka, Yarova and on the outskirts of Korovyi Yar. In total, about 75 square kilometres were cleared of infiltration. The “formative” element of the first stage was the liberation of Serednie, which is now fully under the control of the Defence Forces.
Biletskyi also said that as a result of the corps’ strikes, Russian forces moved supplies of fuel and lubricants beyond Ukraine’s borders, to Voronezh region.
According to the Third Army Corps, during the first stage of Operation “Vivaldi” the Russians lost about 1,500 troops, more than 12,000 drones, as well as hundreds of units of armoured vehicles, artillery systems and other equipment.
“Open sources are now saying that the goal of our offensive actions is to reach the Chornyi Zherebets. But the operation is called ‘Vivaldi’. And Vivaldi, as we know, has four seasons. So follow our official statements and don’t rush with spoilers,” Biletskyi said.
Further actions by the military require an information blackout, and premature disclosure of details could harm the operation.
