On the night of 18 September, an explosion occurred in Moldova near the village of Colonita, close to Chisinau. Six hours later, debris was found in a field, believed to be from an unmanned aerial vehicle.

The Ministry of Defence said it did not record any violation of Moldova’s airspace on the night of 18 September and is investigating the cause of the explosion.
Asked by NM whether radar might have failed to detect a drone flying over the country, the ministry said it “cannot speak about likelihood” and “must speak precisely, based on the data we have”.
More than six hours after a report of a loud explosion near the village of Colonita in the municipality of Chisinau, police found fragments that are believed to belong to a drone. The debris was discovered in a field.
Specialists from the police explosives and technical forensics unit are working at the scene, carrying out the necessary checks and examining the fragments found.
The area has been cordoned off. The circumstances of the incident are currently being established.
