The Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation has delivered 135 loitering drones to the Defence Forces, including 77 RAM-2X drones and 38 RAM-3X UAVs, as well as 20 Ukrainian-made mid-strike drones. The organisation said this in a press release.
The foundation said the drones were purchased as part of the “Jaws” fundraising campaign. Defence Forces units are already using the drones to strike Russian equipment and weapons. In particular, the CUR unit of the Joint Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a Russian Nebo-SVU radar system, estimated to be worth $100 million.
The “Balista” unit of the Special Operations Forces destroyed a Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system and a launcher for an S-300 surface-to-air missile system over two days, while the 429th Brigade “Achilles”, together with the 43rd Separate Artillery Brigade, struck a Nebo-M radar system near Millerovo airfield in Russia’s Rostov Region.
The foundation said the goal of the “Jaws” campaign is to raise UAH 1.3 billion for reconnaissance and strike systems for the Defence Forces of Ukraine. More than 80% of the target amount has been raised so far.
RAM-2X and RAM-3X are Ukrainian loitering munitions with X-shaped wings, designed to strike high-value military targets at operational-tactical depth. RAM-2X, in particular, can be used against high-value targets at distances of up to 180 km and operate in tandem with the SHARK-M reconnaissance UAV, which provides reconnaissance and target designation.
RAM-3X is a new strike drone developed by Ukrspetsystems. LB.ua sent the company a request asking for more details about the drone. However, RAM-3X was shown in a video published by the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation. The post said the drones are “heavier, more powerful and even more destructive” than their predecessors.
Last week, Ukrainian company Ukrspetsystems unveiled the RAM-2X strike UAV with an X-shaped wing at the MSPO arms exhibition in Poland in September this year. The company says the drone was developed to strike high-value targets. Its stated flight endurance is more than two hours. The drone carries a warhead with a 2.7 kg or 3.5 kg explosively formed penetrator.
According to the manufacturer, RAM-2X can operate with various communications systems, including several radio bands and Starlink. The company also says the drone can use different AI assistant models.
According to Ukrspetsystems, RAM-family munitions have struck more than 450 targets in total. At the same time, the manufacturer was unable to publicly confirm its connection to RAM for a long time due to security restrictions, although footage of the systems in action regularly appeared online.
