On 17 September, Ukrainian FP-1 drones destroyed a launcher belonging to Russia’s S-400 system in the Bryansk region. The Russians had modified it for strikes against ground targets.
“On 17 September, the Defence Forces destroyed an S-400 system launcher with FP-1 drones, which the Russians had modified for strikes against ground targets. The missile system was intended for strikes on Kyiv; it had previously already been used to strike the capital,” the company said.
It is noted that the Russian launcher was destroyed near the settlement of Poroshino in Russia’s Bryansk region.
The S-400 “Triumf” is a Russian long- and medium-range surface-to-air missile system designed to engage aircraft, drones and cruise missiles. The system is also claimed to be capable of intercepting certain ballistic targets.
- The S-400 includes radar stations, a command post and launchers. The system uses missiles of various types, and its stated maximum engagement range against certain aerial targets is up to 400 kilometres.
- The first S-400 systems began entering service with the Russian army in 2007. Russia uses these systems as one of the key elements of its air defence network, including deploying them on the occupied Crimean Peninsula.
