The Centre for Countering Disinformation has debunked claims about an alleged Ukrainian Armed Forces advertising campaign urging women to join the military.
Social media and Russian Telegram channels are circulating screenshots purportedly from Ukrainian websites showing contextual adverts in the name of the Armed Forces. The banners depict women in military uniform alongside the slogan: "Now it’s your turn. Show your superpower".
Russian propagandists claim this is how Ukrainians are supposedly being gradually prepared for "women’s mobilisation".
The Centre stressed that no such advertising campaign exists. The screenshots being shared are fake, and Ukrainian media outlets and websites have not carried any such banners.
The Centre noted that this is the latest stage of a long-running Russian disinformation campaign. Previously, Russian propaganda had already spread a fake story about supposed adverts for military service aimed at housewives on the streets of Ukrainian cities.
According to the Centre, the aim of such messages is to create a sense in society of the "inevitability of forced mobilisation of women", to sow anxiety and to discredit voluntary recruitment into the Defence Forces.
The Centre stressed that there is no mobilisation of women in Ukraine. Women can join the Defence Forces voluntarily.
