The Cabinet of Ministers has backed the creation of a dedicated Recruitment Centre for foreigners and stateless people within the National Guard of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi announced this.

The new unit will co-ordinate the enlistment of foreign volunteers for contract service and will guide them at every step — from the first interview and required checks through to completing military training, Koretskyi explained.

The Prime Minister added that the project’s main aim is to make candidates’ path into the National Guard as fast as possible, so that combat units can receive the reinforcements they need more quickly.

The head of government stressed that recruiting foreign nationals remains one of the state’s key priorities, so Ukraine plans to scale up this work and attract even more people ready to defend the country with weapons in hand alongside Ukrainians.

  • Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi previously said he had received requests from commanders of National Guard of Ukraine brigades to improve the process of recruiting foreigners into NGU combat units. The issue was discussed for several weeks.
