The European Union’s Carpathian macro-region has multi-billion-euro potential.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this.
“The first summit of the Carpathian Eight, where we launched the Carpathian Integration Initiative. May the EU Carpathian macro-region remain strong. And may this format support us on our path to joining the European Union,” he said.
The President thanked all the leaders of the C8 countries, businesses and representatives of our Carpathian communities for their “strong presence and promising projects and agreements”.
“The potential is billions of euros and mutual growth. It is important to deliver,” Zelenskyy stressed.
“We will definitely mobilise additional resources and capabilities to support cross-border co-operation between communities. And there is a particular specificity here, in the Carpathians: mountain communities, and therefore mountain roads, their own social challenges, their own environmental challenges. Much of this can only be addressed together with neighbours, and I very much hope that our joint work with our neighbours will continue to grow,” the President added.
- Yesterday, a three-day “Carpathian Eight” summit began in Ukraine, during which Zelenskyy announced 50 agreements worth one billion euros.
- Representatives of Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and the EU are taking part in the inaugural summit. Around 550 business representatives joined the economic part of the event. The summit will also present nearly 100 business projects from eight countries in the Carpathian region.
