More than 50 agreements worth over €1bn have already been prepared for signing as part of the “Carpathian Eight” summit. Around half of the investment is in the energy sector.
Ukraine’s President said this, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He said energy could become one of the Carpathians’ main contributions to Europe — in particular, solar and wind power.
There is also a proposal to create a 1.5-gigawatt Carpathian wind power cluster.
Zelenskyy noted that the Carpathians could become not merely a transit region, but an energy supplier to the European Union.
- In Ukraine, the “Carpathian Eight” summit has begun: Zelenskyy announced agreements worth €1bn (updated). Representatives of Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and the EU are taking part in the inaugural summit. Around 550 business representatives will join the economic part of the event. Nearly 100 business projects from eight countries of the Carpathian region will also be presented at the summit.
