Over the past week, 33 children and teenagers have been brought back from territories temporarily occupied by Russia to areas under Ukrainian control.

This was reported by Mykola Kuleba, founder and head of the Save Ukraine organisation.

He said that among those returned were children persecuted by the Russian occupiers for refusing to take Russian passports. They were also forced to take part in propaganda events and attempts were made to draw them into militarised indoctrination.

"Today they are undergoing rehabilitation at the "Hope and Recovery" centres, receiving comprehensive support from psychologists, help with documents and comfortable accommodation so they can start again with a clean slate," Kuleba said.

He noted that thousands of Ukrainian children still remain in the temporarily occupied territories, where, he said, Russians are trying to "erase their identity".

Overall, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Save Ukraine has managed to bring back to areas under Ukrainian control more than 1,700 children.
