Based on SBU case materials, an agent who was simultaneously working for the Russian and Belarusian intelligence services has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. The SBU detained the agent in December 2025 in Kyiv.

On the basis of evidence gathered by the Security Service, an agent of the Russian and Belarusian intelligence services—detained by the SBU in December 2025 in Kyiv—has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
It is known that, on the instructions of the Belarusian intelligence services, the perpetrator tracked the locations of the Defence Forces; on orders from handlers in the Russian Federation, he adjusted the targeting of the invaders’ missile-and-drone attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine’s capital.
From the window of his own flat, he set up an “observation” post overlooking the perimeter of one of the capital’s combined heat and power plants.
He also carried out additional reconnaissance near the energy facility to determine its technical condition after previous attacks on Kyiv.
According to the investigation, the agent was a general labourer who worked on the construction of a shelter for one of the capital’s schools.
He came to the attention of the Russian and Belarusian intelligence services through Telegram channels.
After completing his agent tasks, the traitor hoped to be “evacuated” out of Ukraine. To that end, he prepared a tactical backpack with essential items that he planned to use while illegally crossing the border towards the Russian Federation.
SBU officers acted pre-emptively and detained the perpetrator at his place of residence in Kyiv.
During searches, they found a backpack prepared for flight and a mobile phone containing evidence of his crimes.
On the basis of Security Service materials, the court found the agent guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by investigators of the SBU’s Main Investigation Department under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
