Russia has stepped up an information campaign calling on Ukrainians to take to protests and destabilise the situation inside the country.
The Centre for Countering Disinformation reported this.
According to the CCD, calls are being actively spread on social media urging people to go to the Maidan and demand that the Ukrainian authorities “immediately make peace”, cancel mobilisation and hold elections.
Propagandists are trying to present Ukrainian service personnel as the supposed leaders of such protests.
The Centre noted that, according to intelligence it has received, Russia is trying in this way to draw Ukrainian troops into protest actions. The aim of the campaign, in the CCD’s assessment, is internal destabilisation and undermining Ukraine’s defence capability.
Ukrainians are being urged not to fall for information manipulation and to verify such messages through official and other verified sources.
