The Cabinet of Ministers has kept the current discounted gas prices for households and heat producers in place until 31 March — effectively until the end of the heating season. Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi reported this on 28 September.
He explained that the decision was taken while a moratorium on tariff increases — introduced by the Verkhovna Rada for the duration of martial law — remains in force, and in view of the country’s difficult socio-economic situation. However, tariff policy will be changed, as there are relevant commitments.
“To fulfil commitments to international partners, the Government, together with other public authorities, is working to improve the tariff policy system and introduce fair and transparent tariff-setting, while simultaneously increasing targeted assistance for those who genuinely need it,” the head of government said.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal added that for households this means the gas price will remain unchanged throughout the entire autumn and winter period.
“This will also make it possible to keep discounted tariffs for district heating companies, extend the terms for selling natural gas to gas distribution system operators, and for cogeneration in frontline areas,” he said.
Retail prices for natural gas for households depend on the supplier. In Kyiv, for residential consumers, the supply price of natural gas from 01.01.2023 is UAH 7.99 per cubic metre.
