The Cabinet of Ministers is launching a rent compensation scheme for bookshops in communities with up to 100,000 residents.
This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhna.
Bookshops will be able to use the reimbursed funds to purchase books or to pay for editions that have already been sold. This way, the support will reach both booksellers and publishers, who will receive payment for books more quickly.
Applications will be accepted quarterly by the Ukrainian Book Institute.
At the first stage, the scheme will be available to bookshops operating in communities with up to 100,000 residents. The first payments are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027, covering rent for the fourth quarter of 2026.

The start date for accepting applications and the detailed terms will be announced separately by the UBI.
"After Russian attacks this summer, the book industry lost more than a third of its annual print run. We are helping publishers and booksellers to keep working so that Ukrainian books reach readers in every community," Berezhna noted.
