Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyy announced a war-risk insurance mechanism during a meeting with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso.
According to the head of government, the Cabinet of Ministers is allocating $1bn for this initiative in the draft 2027 state budget and is counting on support from the EBRD.
In addition, Koretskyy and Renaud-Basso discussed in detail Ukraine’s financial needs for 2026–2027. In particular, they spoke about the energy sector. The Prime Minister said the government, together with the bank, is working to improve the operation of the electricity balancing market, speed up energy projects, and strengthen co-operation with state-owned companies.
The meeting also considered measures to support the renewal of Ukrzaliznytsia’s rolling stock and the development of key transport corridors.
Koretskyy added that since the start of the full-scale war, the EBRD has channelled more than €10.5bn to strengthen Ukraine.
