Soldiers from the unmanned ground systems company of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade evacuated a wounded comrade using the Frodo ground robotic complex. The UGV’s developer, Frontline Robotics, reported this on Instagram.

During the operation, the troops used one of the earliest versions of Frodo. One of the system’s advantages, the soldiers say, is its suspension. As explained by the head of the workshop of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade’s unmanned ground systems company, call sign “Viter”, it helps compensate for uneven road surfaces. As a result, movement during evacuation is smoother and transporting the wounded is more comfortable. According to Viter, during the mission the troops encountered shortcomings in the UGV that the manufacturer addressed in later versions.

“Frodo’s biggest advantage is that it’s fast, which means you can complete one mission more quickly and move on to the next. The main difference between Frodo and other robots is that Frodo can manoeuvre well and remains extremely stable at high speed,” said the UGV operator with the call sign “Tango”.

The Frodo ground robotic complex, designed for logistics, strike and evacuation tasks, was unveiled by the Ukrainian company Frontline Robotics at the end of September. According to the developers, the UGV has a 6×6 wheel configuration, can carry up to 400 kg of cargo and has a range of up to 150 km.

Frodo’s stated top speed is 40 km/h, while the manufacturer says 30 km/h is optimal for operation. The platform has ground clearance from 170 to 330 mm and, according to the company, can continue moving even after losing one of its wheels.

Frontline Robotics says the optimal load is 200 kg, with a maximum of 400 kg. For strike missions, the Buria turret can be integrated on Frodo.
