The Ukrainian Startup Fund and the Brave1 defence cluster are launching the ‘Innovative Prosthetics’ grant programme for prosthetics developers and manufacturers. This is stated in a Brave1 press release.
Ukrainian developers will be able to receive up to UAH 8 million in a non-repayable state grant to develop, test and improve technologies in the field of prosthetics — from validating an idea to creating a functional prototype. The grant amount depends on the technology’s level of readiness.
- Up to UAH 2 million — for testing an idea
- Up to UAH 4 million — for creating a laboratory sample
- Up to UAH 8 million — for creating a prototype or finished product
Brave1 says the aim of the programme is to create conditions in which Ukrainian teams can go from an innovative idea to a functional prototype, its testing, certification and subsequent scaling in the Ukrainian and international markets. Applications are submitted via the Fund’s portal.

Which solutions can receive grant support:
- Solutions for upper- and lower-limb prosthetics — bionic, electronic and mechanical systems that improve the functionality and convenience of prostheses.
- Innovative components for prostheses — electronics, actuators, battery systems, mechanical assemblies and other technologies that can reduce Ukrainian manufacturers’ dependence on imported components
- Solutions for personalisation and customisation of prostheses — including 3D-printing technologies and other solutions that make it possible to adapt a prosthesis to an individual’s needs.
The programme is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine.
Brave1 is a Ukrainian defence technology cluster established in 2023 to develop and scale innovations in defence tech. The platform brings together the state, technology companies, start-ups, investors and the military. Brave1 helps developers create and test technologies for the Defence Forces, including in the areas of unmanned systems, robotic complexes, electronic warfare, artificial intelligence and missile technologies.
One of the main support tools is grant funding for Ukrainian defence-tech developments. Over three years of operation, Brave1 has funded the development of Ukrainian defence technologies to the tune of UAH 6.2 billion.
