A court has sentenced a resident of Lviv Region to 15 years in prison for preparing an act of sabotage at a Ukrainian Railways facility.

As the Security Service reported, the suspect was detained in January 2025.

The investigation found that the convicted man had tried to plant an explosive device under the track used by freight trains. Russian special services planned to detonate the explosives remotely while the train was in motion.

The task was carried out by an unemployed resident of Lviv Region who had previously been convicted of vandalising the graves of Ukrainian soldiers. The Russians recruited him through anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram chats. After being recruited, he received instructions to collect the explosives from a cache, travel to Rivne Region and install them on the track.

The Security Service detained the traitor red-handed near the railway before he managed to plant the bomb. The court found him guilty of high treason and sabotage committed under martial law.
