Germany’s ARX Robotics and the Ukrainian defence technology company Roboneers have successfully completed the initial integration and testing of the Roboneers-made Saber combat module with ARX Robotics’ Gereon unmanned ground platform. ARX Robotics’ press office reported this.

The companies plan to integrate Roboneers Saber combat modules in the M2 and MK 19 (M) configurations with the Gereon platform by the end of 2026. The first deliveries will be made in line with the needs of Ukraine’s Defence Forces. The Gereon UGV will provide mobility, power supply and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, while the Saber module from Roboneers will deliver fire support.

The Gereon series comprises ARX Robotics’ medium-sized UGVs. They make up the largest fleet of Western-made unmanned ground systems currently in use in Ukraine. The platforms’ modular design allows them to be adapted to different configurations and a wide range of missions, including logistics support, casualty evacuation, electronic warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, combat tasks and counter-drone operations.

Saber is a modular line of remotely operated combat modules from Roboneers, designed for use with various types of weaponry. Integration with the Gereon ground platform expands the range of platforms on which Roboneers modules can operate. This enables units to choose armaments to suit a specific mission — from assault rifles to automatic grenade launchers — while using a single ground platform.

The integration marks the next stage of a strategic technical partnership, the agreement for which was signed on 4 October 2026 in Kyiv in the presence of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the German chancellor’s state visit to Ukraine.

The partnership provides for deeper technical integration of both manufacturers’ systems and joint development of technologies for unmanned ground systems. ARX Robotics and Roboneers are already cooperating and supplying such systems to Ukraine’s Defence Forces. In particular, in June 2026 Roboneers and ARX Robotics announced that they were setting up a joint venture, ARX Industries, which will produce the “Lynx Pro” systems at production sites in Germany and Ukraine. In its first year of operation, the venture plans to manufacture thousands of UGV units, and in subsequent years to gradually increase output to tens of thousands per year.

Germany’s ARX Robotics, founded in 2022, specialises in developing technologies for unmanned ground systems. The company builds UGVs for military use and also upgrades existing systems using the Mithra OS operating system with artificial intelligence-based features. In February 2025, ARX Robotics became a resident of Diia.City and opened an office in Ukraine.

Roboneers manufactures unmanned ground systems that can follow designated units on the battlefield and carry not only specially equipped gear but also individual military equipment. Among its developments is the remotely operated “Saber” combat module, which enhances a force’s protective and combat capabilities regardless of weather conditions. Its stated effective firing range is 2–2.4 kilometres. The module can operate actively for 20 hours and conduct surveillance for 120 hours. Control is via WiFi or a 100-metre cable. According to the company, the module has been used on the front line since 2023.

It recently emerged that the Ukrainian defence companies Roboneers and “Partner-VS” are integrating the remotely operated “Saber” combat module onto the Vepr UGV. Roboneers says the aim is to obtain a mobile combat platform that can be fitted with weapons depending on the specific mission.

Ukrainian companies Roboneers and Burevii have also launched joint work on integrating remotely operated combat modules from the “Saber” line onto the ARDAL 920 unmanned ground system.
