Since September, Russia has carried out more than 350 strikes, hitting more than 800 pieces of equipment at substations and generation facilities. Almost half of them, around 350, have been lost.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal said this during the government question time. He said that 235 transformers are currently protected by a second level of protection.
“There has been a single instance (over six months. – Ed.) of a ballistic missile hitting protected facilities. There have been no other instances, despite the number of ballistic attacks,” he said.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the most effective protection at present is a system with a rigid pre-detonation screen. This is now the main technological approach to protecting facilities.
With the current level of enemy strikes, without protection, restoring facilities would take months, Denys Shmyhal stressed.
