On the night of 7 November, Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck the Russian military-industrial complex facility JSC Proton-Electrotex in Oryol, Russia. The attack used Neptune coastal missile systems operated by the Ukrainian Navy.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.

According to the General Staff, a direct hit on the target was recorded. A fire broke out on the plant’s premises, and explosions were also heard. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.

JSC Proton-Electrotex is a Russian manufacturer of optoelectronic equipment and devices with a full production cycle. The plant’s products include modules for Kh-71 “Kover” air-launched cruise missiles and switch-inverters for 9M723 ballistic missiles of the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system.

Striking the plant could complicate the production of components for the missiles the Russian army uses to attack Ukrainian cities.

Ukraine’s Defence Forces, exercising the right of self-defence guaranteed by Article 51 of the UN Charter, continue to take systematic measures aimed at undermining the military-economic potential of the Russian aggressor and compelling the Russian Federation to end its armed aggression against Ukraine.
