Moldovan President Maia Sandu has said that in the coming months Russia will try to destabilise the situation in the country, or create the appearance of destabilisation.

This was reported by the Moldovan state news agency Moldpres.

“All I can say is that in the coming months, and beyond, we will see new attempts by the Russian Federation to destabilise the situation or create the appearance of destabilisation in the Republic of Moldova, in order to create obstacles, raise questions among European Union member states, and complicate our path to EU accession,” Sandu said.

She said the country’s government must be ready for such challenges in order to preserve peace and stability and prevent Moldova’s European course from being discredited.

“Unfortunately, this is what we will see. We must be prepared and respond appropriately—first and foremost to preserve stability and peace here at home, and secondly to ensure our European course is not discredited,” the president noted.
